What are some characteristics shared by the wealthy cles in poor ('developing') countries?

Some people refer to them as a kind of "fake bourgeoisie", because they gained their wealth very recently, e.g. after national independence, or as a "comprador cl" under colonialism. They did not become middle cl in the same way that Europe's middle cl did. They did not have the centuries-long history of political, intellectual and creative innovation that Europe's middle cles had. So, in general, all the "fake bourgeoisie" really know how to do is make money and spend it.
